Microsoft: No Office on Linux ‘at this time’

To be honest, who really cares? I mean, Linux already has a number of office suites available. Therefore, does the lack of MS office really matter for Linux users?

Microsoft may have opted to port Office to the Mac but it has no plans to do the same for Linux even if the open source OS overtakes the Apple platform

Microsoft has rejected porting its Office productivity suite to Linux anytime soon, despite the growing popularity of open source on the desktop.

Speaking at the LinuxWorld conference in London on Wednesday, Microsoft’s head of platform strategy, Nick McGrath, said that the software maker had no intention of porting Office to any of the Linux desktop distributions. [Read the rest]
