Hmm, would this be considered Open Source beer? I guess it depends on how you might define it.
How many Open Source apps does it take to screw in a light bulb? Here’s the latest word from the Linux galaxy, Open Source projects, command line assistance, desktop environment downloads, distribution revisions, cross-platform tools, and general help for those exploring this fantastic OS!

To be honest, I can understand someone having an issue with a Thunderbird extension that happened to contain a swear word. I mean come on! Kids do use this, people.
Well what do you know! It seems that someone has gone out and developed an Open Source help desk system.

ZDNetUK re3ports that the popular Google and Yahoo toolbars are both now availble as extensions in Firefox, and both are available to Linux and Mac Firefox users as well.
To me, this article points out two interesting things to its readers. First of all, it’s OK for Linux users to use Windows when needed. While it may not always be the OS of choice, it does offer us software that we are not going to find elsewhere. Secondly, it would be great if audio [...]
One thing can be said for events and conferences surrounding OSS and Linux - no two of them are ever the same!
It’s too bad this concept has run into so many problems. However, this article at NewsForge is indicating that they now have a new director. So with any luck, this will help them to get back on track.
If you are someone that shares a PC, something like this would make sense. Sure, you could just create your own I suppose…but I like the idea behind PC on a stick. I think it is a clever marketing ploy.

And so Sun is opting to make their software free. Sounds good to me, just so long as there is support to go along with it.
And in contrast to my previous post as to Microsoft’s feelings about OSS, a panel of VIP power-players are saying the software future belongs to Open Source.
While I have been really trying not to do any Microsoft bashing lately, this was the final straw. With comments like; “There’s really nothing innovative today that Linux does that we
can’t do.”, how do I not loose it here? Where is your inovation, MS? WinFS in your next overpriced OS - gone. Implementing RSS in [...]
And he hits the nail right on the head, folks! Linux developers, you really need to read this article! A lot of what I consider to be obvious points being missed everyday by the command line commandos are spelled out clearly here.
Now that’s what I call a distro to go! Yup, you too, can take Linux with you anywhere your travels take you with the power of Linux on a USB drive.
This proves that even OSS can have its faults on occasion. It’s seems that Greasemonkey needs downgraded (think that’s right)? The exploit potential that was discovered with this extension could prove to be a nasty little problem if folks are not careful.
Yes, these browsers are cool being that they are OSS. But I am just not sure that they are going to hold my long tern interest? Maybe I am being too critical here…
