One of the great things about the World Wide Web is the plethora of sites you can find on almost any subject. The more interest in a subject, the more sites you’ll find.
Web sites devoted to operating systems are among the most numerous. One can only imagine how many sites are devoted to the use of Windows. Linux sites are becoming almost as common.
Some of those sites are so filled with information that it’s often hard to find what you need. Somewhere in between the links to other sites, the FAQs, the flash movies and the actual content is that one article you wanted to read. Often you get so distracted reading all that content you forget what you came there for.
One site that won’t blind you with fancy graphics or hundreds of links is Tips for Linux Explorers.
This Web page offers nothing but a collection of some of the most clearly written and informative tips a person new to Linux could desire.
Do you need to know the difference between “su” and “root”? Have you forgotten a few regular expressions in the terminal? Have you heard of URPMI and want to know more?
“Tips for Linux Explorers” should be your first stop.
Bruno from Amsterdam, the creator of this site and a moderator in the All Things Linux section of Scot’s Newsletter Forums offers a wealth of useful information in a straightforward manner. He never tells anyone to Read The Fine Manual and he never belittles a person with not even the most basic knowledge of Linux. In fact, that’s his favorite audience. He enjoys educating and encouraging those trying Linux for the first time.
I know you’ll appreciate having this site bookmarked. You’ll find yourself referring to it time and again as you explore your new Linux installation.
