This was actually pretty well written and also brought up some great points when looking at Linux vs Windows. An article aimed at the corporate market, I think that it covers most of the bases although, there were some distributions that I would like to have seen added to the list.

I have actually toyed with Nvu myself. It is a great program and does give its competition a run for its money!

I would definitely say that Mepis was the best choice for non-geeks needing to move to Linux. What I thought was interesting was what possessed the business in question to use MS Word when they were already using OO in the first place?

I like the idea here. The idea of Open Source radio sounds like fun and sort of reminds me of the old Changing Media days.

Boy, guess this proves that even at Open Source conferences you can get heckled a bit. While it has been a long time since I have done any public speaking, I can still feel for anyone who is heckled while trying to give a talk.

I have come to terms of being a bi-OS sort of guy. Speaking for myself, I find that I prefer to use Linux when I can, but will use Windows too if need be. Have you been able to switch completely? If so, how’s that going for ya?

Heh, this sort of reminds me of a Waldo routine in a way. Well, I doubt that this blogger is the only one wondering what is up with Linus lately. Just a passing thought.

If you guessed that many of the world’s leading scientists use Linux, then you would be right? But to use Scientific Linux as a desktop OS? It can be done and it can be done with much joy, too!

This certainly caught me a bit off guard! Apparently Earthlink and Xandros have struck a deal that is just perfect for those new computer users who are considering getting online for the first time. Why not do it with Linux?

Boy, this is a lesson of ‘be careful what you write’! It looks like one writer was called out on what some considered to be a little overboard.

All and all, this is a pretty fair comparison of how XP stacks up to various distros of Linux. While there is the obvious slant of the writer being a Linux user, they did give XP some credit in select areas.

While I will certainly not state for sure as to why Windows boxes are more likely to be attacked under certain conditions than Linux boxes, I might venture to guess that it has something to do with it being easier?

Well hot damn! This is great news for the Linux world indeed. It seems that Nokia has decided to yield patents over to the Linux kernel. If more companies would just follow this lead, Linux would really take it’s rightful place as the best desktop OS out there!

At least one version of Java code, Java 2 Standard Edition, may soon be set free of Sun Microsystems’ notoriously complicated licensing. While Sun is apparently OK with it, some of its large, license-paying-through-the-nose customers won’t be.
