A Pair of Linux Podcasts

  • No Related Post

You may recall my Linux podcast review a couple weeks back, in which I planned to give The Linux Link Tech Show another listen and download a couple episodes of The Linux Box Show, which I had just found out about. I finally got a chance to do both.

I started with The Linux Box, and I enjoyed the show. The episodes I listened to had a variety of news items, though usually with the host’s own spin rather than things he culled from a feed reader. He also had a history of KDE feature, and an interview with Aaron Seigo of KDE. The only thing I didn’t like about the show is the host (Sean Parsons) appears to read from a prepared script; while this makes him easy to understand, it takes away a lot of the fun and spontaneity, such as what goes on in some of the other shows. Still, that won’t stop me from listening on a regular basis.

I’m glad I gave The Linux Link Tech Show another shot. The audio problem was still there, though not as prominent this time. The hosts are very relaxed and have fun with one another, which adds to the audience enjoyment. They discussed news events, different distributions, and spent some time answered listener questions. They also chat on IRC while recording the show, allowing for (to an extent) audience participation.

For the foreseeable future, these two podcasts and LugRadio will be a regular part of my jPodder feed list. LugRadio’s the best of the bunch, but these two provide their own flavor and easily fill in the gaps between new LugRadio episodes.
