Yes folks, I am going to be working on a fully documented review of Xandros version 3 over the weekend. I am hoping to have it completed and ready to go by Tues. The review will make its appearance in the IT Professional newsletter here at Lockergnome and my take on it will be a complete exclusive to the ‘Gnome as well!
Ever hear the expression ‘membership has its privileges’? Well being an old software reviewer definitely has its perks. Dating back from my old ‘Inside Matt’s Head’ days, I was well known for my no-holds barred software reviews for Open Source and Freeware/Shareware software products. When the time finally came for me to close the doors on that chapter of my life, I took to providing some of my reviews from that point on to my audience at Lockergnome.
One of the most notable reviews was my first impressions of a Linux distribution based on Debian called Xandros. While the name sounds more exotic than it really is, I was blown away at just how close to primetime this distro really was. The best part had to be the willingness of the Xandros team to send my a full review copy complete with manual, bubble-wrap and the works so that I could duplicate the full Linux installation experience. Now you should keep in mind that I don’t have time right now to ‘relive’ the entire review from that point here with you today. However, I will say that it was the best newbie-ready desktop Linux distribution I have ever seen in my life. (Sorry Linspire, you had a shot to prove me wrong, but never got back to me)
