Speed Up Mozilla and Firefox

  • No Related Post

If you’re running Mozilla or Firefox on a broadband connection, you may not think it could get much faster. If so, you’d be wrong.

Hack A Day recently posted this link to a Forever Geek on tweaking Firefox to speed things up. It’s just a few configuration settings that basically tells the browser to go ahead and open more connections to the remote site to more quickly download data.

I tried the tweak on Mozilla and it worked just fine. What’s more, I did notice a difference. I haven’t run benchmarks or direct comparisons or the like, but in visiting pages I visit daily, I can see the difference. I have yet to run into any adverse effects, either.

Nevertheless, you may want to check out these caveats from the Mozilla developers.
