Another point for Open Source! PCWorld reports that Webmail.us has opted for an Open Source solution for their core services. Saying goodbye to those Windows servers will be a big job, but they feel confident that the move is the right one to make.
Don’t worry too much about this interrupting service at all. I am sure that they have a plan in place that will help to make sure that things will go as smoothly as possible. Oddly enough, with their big transformation, they will retain that new “Outlook” UI style that they are using now.
Webmail.us, which provides hosted e-mail service for small and medium-size businesses, will announce next week a raft of improvements to its service, including a major migration of its core e-mail platform from Microsoft Windows to an open-source platform.
Webmail.us about a year ago. The subsidiary sells the service directly to customers and already has about 3500 companies as clients.
