Windows Cost, Security Beat Linux?

Hey! Have you heard the news? Apparently Linux just cannot stack up against Windows when it comes to cost and security.
What? How can this be? Well, Mr. Steve Ballmer has suggested that customers will benefit greatly by migrating from Linux to Windows instead.
He seems to believe that Microsoft has a real handle on the security and cost factors in the OS field. To be fair, Microsoft has it in place with compatibility and that sort of thing. But security? While Linux also has exploits that are often found, they do not have a history of ignoring countless warnings when they are discovered like a certain OS manufacturer. Pardon me while I roll my eyes.
On the same day Novell and Dell announced a major Linux pact, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer sent customers a memo touting the benefits of migrating to Windows rather than Linux.
In the four page memo, Ballmer said the hefty premiums that Linux vendors Novell, Red Hat and IBM charge for must have items such as technical service and support, product warranties and licensing indemnification outweigh the cost advantages of free, open-source software.
