As some of you might recall, Johann De Freitas first introduced us to the Ubuntu distribution back on the 17th of this month. Since then, the distro continues to gain popularity with each passing day.
As distros go, I suppose one might describe Ubuntu as a “progressive” form of Linux. The logo shows that they are definitely on side of keeping Linux free from commercial influence. This is a novel thought and I hope it works out for them.
Ubuntu is a Linux distribution that starts with the breadth of Debian and adds regular releases (every six months), a clear focus on the user and usability (it should “Just Work”, TM) and a commitment to security updates with 18 months of support for every release. Ubuntu ships with the latest Gnome release as well as a selection of server and desktop software that makes for a comfortable desktop experience off a single installation CD.
What makes Ubuntu special? Why do people choose Ubuntu as their favourite Linux for work and play?
