Dell Laptop Recall

This isn’t necessarily Linux (or even software) specific, but I thought I’d share a heads up with everyone. If you purchased a Dell laptop prior to February 2002, your AC adapter may be involved in a recall. AC adapters from one of Dell’s providers have been documented to catch fire or burst open.
Full details on the program can be found at the Dell Adapter Program website. The site will tell you what to look for, and then you enter the information off the adapter tag to see if your adapter is subject to the recall. It will then take your order for a new adapter. Presumably there will be a way to send the adapter back at Dell’s cost.
Dell seems to be having a bit of trouble with the website, as my order just sat and hung for a while after I clicked the submit button, and twice I received “document contains no data” errors. However, in checking my email account, I received two orders for new adapters. If you find the same trouble with the website, check your email before resubmitting the form.
