Interview with KOffice/KWord Maintainer

  • No Related Post

When people talk word processing and office suites on Linux, OpenOffice.org gets all the press, and sometimes StarOffice. However, if you’ve installed KDE on your system, you don’t have to worry about downloading a third party suite as you’ve got KOffice preloaded.

KDE.News recently conducted an interview with KOffice and KWord library maintainer David Faure. It’s not particularly long, but touches on KOffice’s development history and future, and the difference between KOffice and some of its open peers (I hesitate to call them competitors).

One of the differences between KOffice and OpenOffice.org is KOffice comes with Kivio and Kexi, the former a flowcharting tool (yet suitable for basic network diagrams) and the latter a database tool like Access.

I’m an OpenOffice.org fiend myself, but it’s nice to know there are always other options out there.
