Most of us may be familiar with the standard text editors in Linux: Vi, Emacs, Kate, and Gedit, to name a few. However, many of them have somewhat of a learning curve others can only run under GNOME or KDE. So what alternatives exist? Apparently quite a few and I have to admit I’ve never heard of these programs before reading this article. But then again, I settled on vi as the text editor for me a long time ago. Eddi gives you enough to get the job done, while NEdit and EditPad offer more advanced features to keep even demanding users happy.”
