Linux Driver Wiki Launched

  • No Related Post

/. reported the availability of a new Linux Driver Wiki at linux-driver.org, which will be geared toward both developers and newbies who are looking for information about their hardware and compatibility/setup on a Linux system.

Some of the hardware lists seem somewhat sparse for the moment, but the wiki format should allow the site to grow swiftly. Unfortunately the wiki can backfire, as I looked up a Logitech webcam (one of only two listed) and it turned out to be a question more appropriate for a tech support forum rather than an answer or resource for people with the same camera. There are simple checkmarks to indicate whether a product is working or is supported or not, but not every product has links to drill down for further information. This I imagine, may grow as well.

If you’re hardware isn’t listed, feel free to drop by and contribute to the wiki, especially if you’ve got some esoteric piece of hardware that took some effort to get working. The faster it fills up, the sooner it will become a good resource.
