Sun to Acquire MontaVista?

That’s the word going around at the moment according to internetnews.com. Neither company has commented on the rumor, and MontaVista has flat-out denied it. Time will tell.
The idea is the merger will give Sun a foothold in the telco market, where carrier-grade Linux and Unix systems are being used more and more to handle telecommunications. MontaVista has a lot of experience in this realm, and so would give Sun an edge in marketing as well (compared to other major vendors trying to break into that market).
I don’t think this would be such a bad move for them, and given their own foray into the Java Desktop and opening Solaris 10, it might not be all that scary for MontaVista fans and users, either.
