Free Collaboration Package on Linux

  • No Related Post

If you work at or for an enterprise who needs a collaboration solution, or if you would like to host one yourself for a club or organization, chances are you’ve seen Exchange/Outlook, Lotus, and SuSE Linux Open-Xchange Server. I don’t know about SuSE’s package, but the former two are rather expensive.

It turns out Netline has a GPL solution called Open-Xchange, and it’s even available on the Mandrake 9.2 PowerPack distribution, which can be obtained for free in some computer magazines. While I imagine it can be obtained individually, Linux-tip.net has a complete installation guide for getting the software up and running on a Mandrake system.

If you’re looking for a collaboration solution, it may be worth the time to review it. The collaboration suite offers the following modules:

-Portal
-Calendar
-Contacts
-Addresses
-Tasks
-Projects
-Documents
-Knowledge
-Bookmarks
-Pinboard
-Forums
-Webmailer
