An Intro to the Mount Command

  • No Related Post

Joe Barr’s latest CLI Magic column, “Taming a wild mount”, is a solid introduction to the mount command.

Anyone who has been using Linux for any length of time is probably already familiar with the mount command and its options, so this article is more appropriate for newer users who have yet to learn the ins and outs of mounting filesystems. It may also provide those same users with the background information needed to set up their fstab file for recurring mounts.

And if you’re not familiar with fstab, then this page ought to start you in the right direction. fstab makes life a lot easier for filesystems you may mount repeatedly, such as Windows partitions or USB keys.
