Play DVDs with MPlayer

If you’re looking for a good DVD player for Linux, this NewsForge article by Terrell Prudé, Jr. will get you started on using MPlayer to do so.

I use MPlayer frequently on my Fedora box, and I will also be installing it on my Slackware laptop when I get around to it. It’s a solid, flexible player that, in my experience, works very well with a variety of codecs.

Installing it can be a bear due to the poor documentation, but this article breaks it down into easy-to-follow steps, including the installation of the FFMPEG audio/video conversion tool for DVD playback.
