I’ve finally gotten around to tweaking out my X configuration in Slackware 10 on my Dell Inspiron 8000, and I’m now successfully running at 1280×1024 resolution with 24-bit color depth. Perfect! Dell tells me this screen will run up to 1600×1200, but that’s a lot smaller than I need, even on a 14″ display.
The full installation details, including my working X configuration, can be found on my website if you’re interested. I also plan to notify Linux on Laptops as most of their I8K references are for older distributions.
