Native Centrino Drivers Released

  • No Related Post

For those of you who have purchased a Centrino-powered laptop with the hope of installing Linux on it, Intel has finally released native Linux drivers for the chipset. It appears to be an Open Source initiative as the drivers are hosted on SourceForge.

I’m happy to see Intel backing Linux like that, and hopefully more manufacturers will follow suit in the future. It would be nice to be able to pick up any modern laptop and know it won’t require arcane rituals and sacrifices to the gods to get all the hardware working properly.
