The flipside - is Open Source of to the AV challenge?

Just an article or two back, we discussed Open Source Antivirus software. As luck would have it I ran across an article from Yahoo stating that Open Source Antivirus software may not be up to the job. While it does a good job at keeping up to date with the latest threats that are running wild on the Web, it lacks the ability to cleanse files that have already become infected. The article goes on to express concerns about trusting your Open Source Antiviruses and leaves readers with a looming sense of doubt that is hard to shake.

What Do You Think?
