Wired News: Open Supercomputing Hits Big 1-0

Used to be if you wanted a super-computer (and who among us didn’t?), you had to buy a stand-alone monster machine from Cray or IBM. Then clusters came along, and you could create your own super-computer by simply clustering several computers together. The Beowulf Project was born ten years ago to provide Linux users a chance to get in on the clustering. Open source super-computing…does it get any better than this?
