Linux requires support from those who love to use it. Mandrake for instance, stresses this in an excerpt from their download page. “Since Mandrake Linux is an Open Source product, it needs your financial contribution. Developing a Linux distribution is very costly, so it’s up to the community of users to ensure its health.”
While I may not use Linux as often as I would like, I am a very, very strong supporter on the Open Source movement. When I can, I contribute my time, media connections and even kick down a few bucks to keep the dream alive. Remember, supporting your favorite Linux distro, or other Open Source project starts with you.
