Allied Irish Bank has sent “Windows packing” in favor of moving to Linux-based PCs. While on it’s own this may not seem that profound, it is a small part of a much larger trend. Reports state that various aspects of the financial world are beginning to move toward Linux and away from Windows. NewsForge reports; “From Wall Street titans like Credit Suisse First Boston and Lehman Brothers, to regional banks like Koelner Bank eG and AIB, a number of leading financial services companies have embraced Linux during the last few months in the United States, Europe, and South America.”
Can you feel it? Things are changing everyday people. If you are very quiet and put your ear to the ground, you can actually hear Microsoft beginning to re-think their whole Open Source position.
