Linux shares attributes with Windows

Are Linux and Windows really that different? One man does not think so. Mark Russinovich, chief software architect for Winternals Software, was quoted as saying that Linux is playing catch up with Windows. The only real difference now is the way it handles “windowing” on the OS. He goes on to claim that both kernals are monolithic and have “drunk from the same source”. Linux and Windows, are they really that different? That is up to the experts to decide I suppose.
