Simple bandwidth monitoring

  • No Related Post

If you’re looking for a simple solution to monitor your bandwidth usage, check out vnStat. This app is purely command-line driven and is a snap to install. It will give you summaries by interface and/or by time, and will also display simple graphs over time and a breakdown of the heaviest days of usage. Because it doesn’t require a separate web server or other components to store and display the results, it’s great for both home users who want to monitor their own bandwidth as well as remote servers where a sysadmin wants to install as little software as possible.

vnStat is awesome, couldn’t agree with you more!

another one of my favorites is Netacct-mysql. wrote a little article about it here: http://alain.giantdorks.org/linux-bandwidth-monitoring-and-network-accounting-tools/
