Linux in your lap

Intel® PRO/Wireless 2100 Driver for Linux

Those of us who sport Linux on our laptops are a precious few, the brave explorers, those who wish to have what was not supposed to be. Never mind many people consider us crazy. We love our laptops, we take them with us everywhere…it’s only natural that we simply had to install Linux on them. We are finally increasing in number, and as we do, the community feels the need to supply us with those little items of use only to the mobile crowd. If your laptop has the Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection mini PCI adapter (on Centrino systems), here’s the driver you’ve been waiting for. And if not, here’s today’s bonus link, Doc Searls writing for Linux Journal magazine in part two of what he calls “The Laptopia Odyssey”. I was sitting next to Doc in March at the Linux Desktop Summit and had a chance to check out his 17″ Powerbook. I’m ashamed to admit it took me three days before I could use my 15″ Toshiba again without feeling pangs of envy that made my toes curl. That is one beautiful machine. I’m glad he didn’t have his ThinkPad with him as well. I may never have recovered.
