Live distros

We’ve mentioned and recommended the use of “live” Linux distros before to either try out Linux for yourself, or as a means to show others how Linux looks and works. Linux Format magazine this month included a small sidebar that covers some of the more well known live versions and what they, LF, feels are the minimum system requirements for each:
Damn Small Linux / Desktop:Fluxbox / Approx. ISO size: 50MB / Min. RAM: 64MB / Derived from: Debian

Gnoppix / Gnome / 660MB / 128MB / Debian

Knoppix / KDE / 700MB / 128MB / Debian

PCLinuxOS / KDE,Gnome / 700MB / 256MB / Mandrake

RPM LiveCD / KDE,Gnome / 600MB / 128MB / Fedora Core

Slax / KDE / 180MB / 32MB / Slackware

A few things to keep in mind in using these CDs.

What Do You Think?
