Urpmi’s

Easy Urpmi

If you use Mandrake 9.0 and above, there’s an easy way to add to the options available toy you under “install software”. These are urpmi’s, collections of software cpllected by various users around the world. Easy Urpmi and Chip Cuccio’s urpmi site (http://norlug.org/~chipster/rpms#urpmi) are two good places to start. Open your konsole, change to root and copy/paste the “urpmi.addmedia…” code, then hit enter, and the full list will be available the next time you go to install software. Be sure you use the urpmi that applies to your version of Mandrake. These collections often include hard-to-find programs and new updates to those you may already have. Enjoy, and have fun.
