Good morning linux fanatics!
Great news for AMD 64 computer users:
Mandrakelinux 10.0 for AMD64 has been released according to distrowatch.com :
“Mandrakelinux 10.0 Official for AMD64 combines the strengths of the 10.0 distribution with the latest technology of AMD Athlon64 and AMD Opteron processors. 10.0 Official for AMD64 is based on the PowerPack 10.0 with significant performance enhancements in all of the applications. AMD64 technology provides more efficient memory access and doubles the number and the size of processor registers. Furthermore, Mandrakelinux 10.0 Official for AMD64 provides perfect compatibility with 32-bit applications. This is the ultimate product for power users who demand the highest performance! ”
I tested Mandrakelinux 10.0 for AMD64 personally from RC 1 stage and up to the prior version when it was no longer offered for free. It really is a nice linux distro, the speed it had was amazing and it worked really good. The lack of updated packages was a burden for me and a few other small things with xmms. I have not tried the latest packages to see if the bugs were taken care of or not. I’m never was a Mandrake fan, got hooked on Knoppix and I have a hard time using another distro. This version of Mandrake I could see myself using if it wasn’t for the price tag of $129.00.
