Making Linux easy for you is a lot easier than you may think. One of the most important choices you can make regarding Linux is which distribution to use. There is no “best” distribution, but there certainly is a “best for you”. Do your homework, and find out what distribution best suits you.

“Where do I start?” you say? Well, here is a helpful pointer. Once you pick a distribution, stick with it. Don’t go changing it like your underwear. Every distribution is different, and you’ll have to get used to each one. You will have to keep this in mind quite a bit, too. Remember you distribution of choice, and look for software, solutions, and advice meant specifically for it.

If you are really in things for the long haul, make a list of the software and features you want you distribution to have. Take a week or so making sure all the software you want is available specifically for your distribution. Also, check the various sources of help available (including third party sources) to make sure you can get good, timely help!
