Hardware: AVBUSB Mobile Drive

Santa, my fiance, was good to me this year. (S)he gave me an
AVB USB Mobile Drive 2.0.
My Christmas wish was fulfilled down to the exact model and size wrapped in a box with 8 or so rolls of
pennies taped around the sides; in fact,
enough attention was paid to the placement of the rolls that the additional weight added was evenly
distributed. I had no idea what was in there - and I stared at the thing for over a month! Anyway,
besides just the drive itself (which works very well with the kernel USB modules and some help
found here), the drive came with printed instructions. Though I often read
them - sometimes even before I try installing hardware - instructions often don’t make my day. Surprisingly
enough, in this case, they did make my day! Why, you ask? ‘Cause they included instructions for
using Linux! Woohoo! It just makes my day when I see commercial products include printed documentation
supporting Linux. But, as is often the case, I was reading the instructions after I already
fscked the drive, created a file system on it, and
mounted it, so I don’t know if the directions would work verbatim. But, darnit, they were included! So thank you,
Santa and AVB, for the USB Mobile Drive 2.0.
