{Television via Linux} xawtv is a program used for watching TV. As I write this I am listening to PBS and switching to the desktop it is running on when something catches my ear. I might click over and channel surf a bit (I have cable running to the card so there are quite a few channels), then switch back to OpenOffice.org 1.1.0 where I’m typing. Shucks, I can even record TV shows and take snapshots if I choose! But, as with all things Linux, setting it up is not as simple as just installing xawtv. Besides configuration, figuring out what device it’s running on, getting the sound hooked up and possibly even recompiling your kernel, you have to own some kind of TV card.
