As the “official” FAQ of Debian GNU/Linux, this site is chock full of useful information about this alternative to the alternative OSs. It includes a brief history of Deb, discussion on how it differs from “regular” Linux, a brief installation guide, and much else that a new Deb user could use and treasure. It’s really intended to start you down the Deb path, rather than to provide pat answers for every problem. It serves that purpose well and provides some interesting reading along the way.
