Copy and Paste

Copy and Paste
Scribbled by Bob Weaver

“I noticed the copy and paste thing in todays Penguin Shell and could help but think about how
the Bash shell has command line autocomplete (you know, hit tab).. The copy and paste thing
is definitely cool and useful for all (and I use it constantly), but I just felt like
mentioning autocomplete since it’s the coolest thing since 8.4 gig hard drives and can ease
the long commands significantly..

“I thought yesterday’s GnomeTWEAK article on Quick Copy and Paste in Linux
was a good topic, but not nearly in depth enough. It would be good to
write an article that went into deeper into the copy and paste. For
example, where is the limit for the copy buffer set? Sometimes, when I
attempt to copy a large amount of text some of the lines drop off, but I
don’t know where the buffer size is set to make it larger. Also, I have a
trackball at home, and can’t get the buttons to work for copy and paste.
Are there keyboard short cuts for pasting? Also, in Windows I used to
highlight text, and then paste over it. The way copying in Linux works
highlighting it puts it in the copy buffer, so there is no way to do this.
Just some ideas for a better copy/paste article.”
