Popups are, next to spam, my second great annoyance with a connected lifestyle. On the Windows side, I’ve always used Pow! from AnalogX to vaporize those annoying X10 ads, among others. So, you can imagine my joy when I found Webwasher’s Linux app for killing popups.

Webwasher is easy to install, even easier to configure, and does the job very cleanly. Webwasher runs as a proxy server in Linux. That means that whether you’re using Netscape, Mozilla, Galeon, Opera, or Konqueror as your Linux browser, setup is a breeze. Simply set your browser to use “localhost port 9090″ as its proxy server, and you’re done. Webwasher starts when you boot into Linux with no further ado.

Know how many popups I’ve seen since installing Webwasher? Exactly zero. Refreshing, indeed.
