Expect is a program to automate such tasks as telnet, FTP, fsck and others where the command set is similar from one session to another. Expect can automate these programs, making their use more simple and efficient. The home page contains ample documentation on the use of Expect, as well as user contributed scripts for putting Expect to good purpose in your day-to-day Linux use.
