The Linux Counter is an interesting project aimed at making a reasonable estimate of the number of Linux users worldwide. From a statistical analysis perspective, the site has a wealth of details regarding kernel versions, uptime, Linux user density, and registered Linux User Groups. Many of the statistics can be updated by user with a simple downloadable script. Just so you know: I’m user #247072, machine #130587. You too can stand up and be counted at the Linux Counter.
