Sometimes A Shorter Domain Is Not Clearer

In my last post I talked about url shorting services but occasionally a shorter url or reducing everything to one short word does not convey the clearest meaning. One glaring example can be found on one of those Adopt-A-Highway signs near my house. The sign says this highway adopted by gotradon.com . Being the sci-fi fan I am I immediate read that as go-tra-don as if it was some monster in a Godzilla movie. I did go to the web site and it was for a service the provides radon detection services and/or products. It’s a pretty cheesy web site and I wish their was contact information on it but needless o say I would have “gotten” who they were a lot quicker if they had used a hyphen in their url on their sign i.e.  got-radon.com .
