Cornficker Ficks the French and British

Apparently bored, the French and British have gotten their systems infected with the Cornficker virus.
French fighter planes are grounded, unable to take off after military computers were infected by Cornficker, an intelligence magazine claims.  The planes were unable to download their flight plans.
It’s not like we didn’t know about this months ago, folks.

Watching a Windows Virus with Linux

Today I’m going to do something different.  Yes, I’m also going to do something different on the blog.  I’d like to welcome my cohort in linux, Art Alexion.  He had a very interesting experience recently and I insisted on having him write it down.  It starts when he used Google to find out how to [...]

Somewhere the Universe is Laughing Hysterically…

Did you ever have one of those years?
2008 wasn’t so hot.  2009 hasn’t exactly started off too well either.
My equipment is after me again.  Maybe the equipment is a proxy for the universe.  Something is out to get me and appears to be doing so via computers.
Let’s start off with the main machine, Stanley.  Stanley [...]

We’re having our usual good time here at the Twilight Zone<tm>.  There is some relatively massive construction going on and as a result, things are more interesting than usual.   One favorite seems to be network connectivity: it’s not there for periods.
One of Our Best People got up off his posterior and wandered out to the [...]

next time some smartass comes up to you and blathers on about Windows, you can have at least one hundred snappy rejoinders just waiting at the ready…  shouldn’t be too difficult to come up with a few hundred more, right?

First Beta of Windows 7 Could Arrive as Early as Next Month

Can you imagine what this will bring us?
Don’t hesitate to leave some ideas in the comments.  Here are mine:

it will be expensive
it will require more hardware and horsepower than you have
it will be full of serious bugs
it will be every bit as secure as any other version of Windows
this will finally be the most secure [...]

Colin Smith writes “TradElect, the Microsoft .Net based trading platform for the London Stock Exchange, was offline for about seven hours, meaning that their 5-nines SLAs are shot for approximately the next 100 years. The TradElect system was launched back in June of 2007 and was designed for increased speed and system capacity.”

linux keyboards?

Ok, I’ll admit it.  When I purchased a Microsoft mouse, I was dying to call and ask MS if they had a linux driver for it.  I somehow managed to put off the urge.
Now that I’m much more mature I can reveal that I also have a Microsoft keyboard, for which I have completely resisted [...]
