Chocolate as a Religious Sacrament

What – you think I’m kidding?

OK, maybe a little bit (I’m a-religious).

I like chocolate.  Actually, I love chocolate.  Some might say I’m powerless over its effects.  Every now and then I find something so good I have to burst out and share it with you.

Today’s sinfully delicious treat is Dark Chocolate Dreams.  It’s put out by Peanut Butter&Co and described as peanut butter blended with rich dark chocolate.

Call it what you like.  I call it unbelievable delicious.  I can sit there with a spoon and just eat the stuff (until I roll myself away).  Of course I kid: my wife has to roll me away.

They also have a white chocolate flavor, as well as a spicy flavor.  The white chocolate variety tastes pretty much like what you’d expect.  Think white chocolate Reese’s Cups.

Tomorrow: Chocolate wine (I’m not kidding).

Here is the allowable amount of insects in chocolate according to the FDA:

Insect filth allowed — (AOAC 965.38) The average is 60 or more insect fragments per 100 grams when six 100-gram sub-samples are examined…

…OR…

Any 1 sub-sample can contain 90 or more insect fragments.

The size of the fragments is not specified.

What do they mean by “or more”?
