“If that were true, I’d be the healthiest person on the planet!”
It’s funny how certain things catch my eye. I saw your usage here, of the subjunctive verb, and wonder about differences in our upbringing. (not a jab at all)
I generally use was instead of were in a case such as this, and though I know it is the less preferred way, I do it. I do use were in the case where preceded by “I “or ” you”, but never with the third person. I am fairly sure I do it because of verb conjugation in French, which follows the way I speak, but I am not sure. I had French from 7th through 10th grades in HS, and then again in college.
Did you take a foreign language in high school or college?

High school Spanish but my grammar probably comes from english. I tended to pay attention in the local language class, as opposed to most of the others.
No college - I couldn’t pass the drinking exam.
I had a few weeks of French in 6th grade. I remember the kids repeating what the teacher said:
[teacher] C’est la vie.
[class] La vie.
That’s all I remember :)

Maybe that Congresswoman is your smarter younger wife? Maybe you should write to congress. As for keeping both that depends but based on my experience keeping up with one wife who is older and smarter I would be putting myself in serious jeopardy if I tried it.

You are no doubt correct, Kevin.
