Firefox (Further) Protecting Us from Microsoft

Whether you know it or not, Microsoft installed a `patch’ that destabilized Firefox. This was a move that could only be labeled insane (or Standard Operating Procedure for Microsoft).
Fortunately Mozilla rose to the challenge and updated Firefox to block the offending addon (.NET Framework Assistant and the Windows Presentation Foundation) via its blocklist function.

Many security and plain old common sense folks advise you to drop Internet Explorer completely and use a safer browser. This is one of the reasons I use Firefox and Opera.

Now here’s where it gets fun:
“After talking with Microsoft, they have now confirmed that the Framework Assistant add-on is not a vector for this attack, and we have removed the entry from the blocklist.”

This back-and-forth between Mozilla and Microsoft is not helping debug other problems with Firefox on Vista. http://annoyances-resolved.blogspot.com/2009/10/firefox-vista-close-button-blinking.html
