Aetna Must Die. Again.

While I’m waiting to find out how much insurance will increase this year, I had to speak to a rep about a prescription issue.  It seems that I am required by a practice to see a specialist before I can get my prescription refilled.  I promptly fired the practice.

When I called other doctors, I found the same idiotic rules everywhere.  So I figured that since HMOs are killing healthcare, the least they can do is find me some help.

I am so tired of asking a question and getting the answer to a different question.

I explained the problem to the rep, who told me Aetna had no such rule.

I know it’s not Aetna’s rule.  But every practice I call has the same rule.

She offered me a list of providers.

If I called other doctors, I obviously have a long list of doctors.

She asked if there was anything else should could help me with.

I wasn’t aware she helped me in the first place.

Mis-mangled healthcare strikes again!

But everything’s going to be ok soon, when “Obamachrist and the Congressional Toadies” fix healthcare.  Right?

You make no sense using the word “practice”. If a specialist gave you a prescription than you would no doubt have to see a specialist to get the prescription extended since the original prescription was completed. If a doctor wanted you to get refills it would already be on the prescription.

On the other point, i have no trouble shopping around my health insurance needs. I do this yearly if i get a price increase that seems out of line. Much like auto and homeowners insurance and have had no trouble finding something that fits my needs with over 50+ health insurance companies out there. I’m currently with Humana.

This would be an ADDITIONAL specialist.

The insurance comes through work so I have the choice between two horrid HMOs. And those are the cheap options. I work with crack addicts, apparently.

You certainly make a good point about shopping and I applaud your knowledge and initiative. Most people just sit there. More need to stand up and be counted. (or fleeced slightly less).

But everything’s going to be ok soon, when “Obamachrist and the Congressional Toadies” fix healthcare. Right? ……..riiiiight, and I’ll stop tanning and start eating McDonalds (translation - when hell freezes over!)
