Today’s Appreciation… Iran

I’m not what you’d call a big fan of Iran but today I take my hat off to the people of Iran.

They had an election.  They suspected it was fraudulent.  They arose en masse and protested.  Some gave their lives.  The government clamped down and the fight continues unabated.

Contrast this to America, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.  When our elections get stolen, we read about it in the papers.  The we go back to watching Americans Idle.

When we get put over an oil barrel, we grumble and buy larger SUVs.

When a presidential candidate promises change and provides more of the same, we marvel at his statesmanship and teleprompter skills.

When taxpayer money is doled out as corporate welfare, we focus on David Letterman and Sara Palin, a bad joke in itself.

And, of course, we go back to watching (and being) Americans Idle.

Hats off, people of Iran; fighting for basic human dignity and principles.

I think the best part of today’s youth is that they don’t even have the energy to mistrust us.

Well stated, eur!
