Pray for your Constitution

  • No Related Post

Don’t forget that Thursday is National Day of Prayer.

This is otherwise known as Screw the Constitution Day.
Or Trash the First Amendment Day.

Who is monitoring it?
The National Day of Prayer Task Force, which is run by the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family.  They want to know what the White House plans are for that day.

Bush the Younger invited the Dobsons, of Focus on the Family, to the White House.  Bush never met a part of the Constitution he couldn’t urinate on, as proved once again by this act.

Rather than the president taking this opportunity to repeal this assault on our basic freedoms, he has chosen to continue pandering to religious factions.  There will be a proclamation signed but no White House event.   The spinmeisters have chosen to excuse this act by comparing the observance to that of presidents Reagan (ex-Hollywood) and Bush the Elder (ex-CIA).

WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

I can guarantee you that there will be all sorts of negative red-herring comments coming.  Ideally, explaining my reasoning and the Constitution will prevent this.  Unfortunately, some folks don’t let facts interfere with their (alleged) thought processes.

Our First Amendment prohibits the establishment of religion.  This is the reason we are not supposed to have prayer in public schools (hear that, bible belt?) and why churches don’t pay taxes.  It keeps the government out of religion and ideally, religion out of government.

National Day of Prayer is the perfect example of something that shouldn’t happen under our Constitution.  It mixes government and religion.  It establishes religion.  It puts the governmental OK on religion.  It is very dangerous.  It should not happen.

RED HERRINGS AND STRAW MEN

All Bad Stuff<tm> happened because we took prayer out of schools.

This is a call for all non-thinking Americans to continue not thinking. Prayer doesn’t belong in public schools.  It’s establishment.  Don’t be a mindless yahoo.

You commie atheists are ruining the world.

No, you’ll find it’s the secret societies, aided and abetted by the immobile Great Unwashed that are ruining the world.  You’d be surprised to learn that a great many of the people against school prayer are deeply religious.  One of the reasons is the Constitution.  Another is that they’re terrified that your religion will be the one legislated.  Would you like your public schools reciting a Muslim prayer every morning?

Did you know that Congress opens every day with a prayer?  That’s about as unconstitutional as you can get.  But Congress doesn’t have to obey its own laws and this is just another fine example of it.

I could stop this entire horror show immediately.  Insist that Congress open up its next day with a satanic prayer.  You’ll see them get the Constitution in a way they never have before.

WHAT DO I DO?

Contact your congresscritters and complain.  Tell your friends and family.  Spread the knowledge.  Enlighten people.  Alert the bloggers :)
