When is the Next Flight to the Statue of Liberty?

Why was there a very large plane flying low through New York with a fighter escort?

On the surface it’s “Jeepers, we’re sorry, that was stupid!  We were just setting up a photo-op.”

The president is pissed, claiming he didn’t know.  He was not on board the plane, which is known as Air Force One only when the president is inside.  Any plane the president is on becomes Air Force One.

And we are supposed to swallow it whole and go about our business.

Since our absent press has abdicated its responsibility to investigate and report the truth, most of us probably will go about our business.  Besides, Americans Idle is on tonight….

The remaining few will declare that this simply does not add up.

And they’re right.

Most of us remember 9-11.

With that in mind, why was there a large plane flying low over the city, with a fighter jet escort, running circles around the Statue of Liberty?

It was totally unannounced.  What do you think was going through the heads of everybody who saw it fly by?  Would any president or staff member with a live brain cell pull a stunt like this? 

Not if he didn’t want to terrorize the entire city on purpose.

What would a sane person expect to get from terrorizing New York?

I think we can safely rule out a sane person terrorizing New York.

Why does the plane need to be near the Statue of Liberty in the first place?

“Oh, sorry, forgot to tell you we’re doing a photo-op at the Statue.”

With the most sophisticated multimedia people in the known universe on staff, you’ve never heard of Photoshop?”

I think we can safely rule out a photo-op.

What does that leave us with?

Occam’s Razor states that the simple answer is usually the best answer.

Occam’s Razor is unfortunately in the shop for sharpening and could not be reached for comment.

So why did Air Force One fly low over New York with a fighter escort?

I don’t have a good answer.  I have a hunch, though….  It was sending a message.

All that’s left is to figure out who sent the message to whom.
