As if a Suicidal Hard Drive Weren’t Enough…

Two weeks ago a ball joint failed catastrophically in my car, taking out everything within a one foot radius of it.  I suspect it overheard my wife talking about having a few spare dollars.  It cost `only’ eight hundred dollars to remove it from the shop.

A week ago, my wife heard some squeaking from her car.  She was very unhappy about this, as she was terrified she was going to lose a ball joint catastrophically too (bloody copycat).  Today the car went in to be looked at.

Just in case that wouldn’t be enough, one of my guys is interviewing for another position across the street and apparently keeps forgetting to give me the courtesy of letting me know.

A scant few hours later we were a few hundred down for rear brakes.  But that wasn’t all – no sir.  We were promised that we could return any time in the next few weeks and spend another few hundred on front brakes and a ball joint.

Due to miscommunication, my car was never inspected when it went in for the ball joint so it has to go back within a month.  Naturally it will require brakes too.

It was bad enough when only the health insurance premiums and copays were draining the lifeblood out of us.  Now the cars have conspired to suck any remaining amount of cash from us.  The joke is on the cars though…. we don’t have any remaining cash.

Considering that my errant laptop hard drive is still undergoing treatment with Spinrite, things aren’t looking great in that department either.

I am not having a pity party here (I couldn’t afford the refreshments).  I am just astounded by the avalanche of interesting things occurring at this moment.

I took this morning off to accompany my wife to her (potential) new pain management doctor.  I like him.. he’s got a wicked sense of humor and seems to know what he’s doing.  We are counting on much better results from this fellow.  I feel we should definitely get better results with this one, considering the death of the last one.

It’s amazing that two doctors can see one patient and come up with different diagnoses and treatments.  I asked the new doctor if he was on-board with fibromyalgia.  “Yes and no” was his answer.  Very complete.

Anyway, the new doctor had some interesting suggestions for my wife.  Now all we have to do is hope that between two insurances, one will cover it.
