Guitar Center - Another Sad Note…

  • No Related Post

If you followed the sage of my nephew’s guitar, you’ll remember my wife purchased a heavy metal-ish guitar for her nephew for his birthday.  The Guitar Center salesguy really pushed the extended warranty, promising that it covered anything.

Naturally, anything happened and the headstock snapped off.

Nephew took the guitar to a local Guitar Center, who said they’d see what they could do and proceeded to not call him and ignore all of his voicemails.
After a few words with the manager, Guitar Center did the right thing and replaced the guitar.

Over the weekend the guitar was plugged in.  And of course it didn’t work.  Very impressive, guys.

I took the BC Rich piece of shit apart to figure out what wasn’t working.  If my nephew had to take it back to GC yet again, it would not have been pleasant.  The flaw appeared to be a production fault: the output jack’s wired were shoddily soldered, shorting the guitar out.  One quick solder joint repair and my nephew was back playing.

The whole story says volumes for the Guitar Center and BC Rich experience.

Not sure about your experiences, but mine are that I darken the doors of Guitar Center only when the slash-and-burn ads are going on, otherwise I go to a local dealer, that has been around for years, or drive a bit more to Sam Ash.

GC hires salespeople rather than musicians, and the reverse should be true.

I like to save a buch as much as anyone, but I draw the line at Squire and BC Rich. I always look for great deals on less expensive suster brands, like Epiphone. My 30 year old Epiphone 12 string is as beautiful today as ever.

Thats very poor show coming from the Guitar Center guys, maybe they get a lot of complaints about that model.
