Ham Radio fills the need after the storm.
Ham radio operators ventured to Red Cross shelters, emergency operations centers and drove the roads to connect family members, direct supplies and just keep communications up and running, replacing cell phones and traditional land-line phones.

An amateur radio club has been offering help with communication since a winter storm disrupted landline and cellular phone service in parts of Kentucky. WBKO-TV reports that the Kentucky Colonels Amateur Radio Club of Bowling Green is helping the American Red Cross.
